I know there’s still probably all of 2 people that read this blog right now, including me, but that won’t stop me from treating it like there’s 1000 readers…

This post is to announce our first ever Reverends of Poker Tournament! This little baby home tourney is officially called the “NFL Hangover Poker Tournament”, or “What the Heck Do We Do On Sunday Afternoons Now Tournament”.

Once I get back from Vegas, I’ll bring both a report on the small amounts of poker I play there, and details about the February 12th ROP Invitational.

So I’m playing a freebie SNG at PokerStars tonight. It’s a 45-seater, and I sat idle for a few hands, managed to double up early on when I flopped broadway. Sat around, picked off a few short stacks, and made final table. This is where we wish it was real money. After some epic standoffs and a few solid hands, we work down to three players. We were clearly the three strongest of this group of 45. We folded around a couple times, kinda stepping light. Then it happened. Three stacks,  chip leader “Scandoman”, leads me by 10 chips, OutCold is roughly 4500 behind. Some kinda bug catches us, and I make a questionable push, mostly hoping to knock them off the pot, but praying for a miracle. Here’s how it went down…

As an introduction, I’ll share the write-up of the last live game I played. Hopefully you can learn from my mistakes.

it’s all about discipline really. that’s the deficiency in my game. i understand pot odds, i get the percentages, i know when to fold ‘em, i can even get a decent read on a player. but something happens when i see certain cards, i forget the rules i walked in with. even a quick internal pep talk during a bathroom break didn’t get it into my head, though it probably bought me a couple hands.
